Tonight, I was in serious DIY mode. Maybe because I was avoiding putting clothes away (yes, the same clothes that I was suppose to put away last week).
Anywho, I spotted this overpriced jersey necklace at UO for $38 so I took on the challenge to make one myself.
Here is the tutorial:
You will need:
- Cotton T-Shirt (preferably Large or X-Large make sure the shirt has no seams on the sides and is of soft material)
**I found my shirt at a thrift store for about $2 and so can you or you can take one of your boyfriend’s old t-shirts**
- Scissors
Alright, let’s start.

Lay the t-shirt on a flat surface, fold it in half lengthwise smoothing the fabric to avoid wrinkles
Cut the bottom hem (you won’t need it).
Start cutting 3/4” or 1/2” strips (the thinner the strip, the thinner the strand will end up - this will make sense when you get to the end)
You should now have a mountain of strips (like the picture above)

Take each strip and give it a nice pull/tug.
Rotate the strip at the same time that you are tugging, the material will immediately curl and give you a nice strand. (see picture above)

Twist the strands together and twirl them to give them and extra curling attempt
You can take a scrap from what is left of the t-shirt and tie all the strands together and …
Whoalaa!

YOU HAVE A JERSEY NECKLACE!!!

Pair it with a necklace or loop it twice like the picture above and you are ready to go out!
It’s really simple and easy and I think it looks great! I’m totally inlove with mine!
I’d love to see your results so please send me pictures of your necklace!
Good Luck!
