-Weekend Rundown-
Mood: Smiley Faces All Around
After not being able to make it to Track 16 in Santa Monica for the opening of Sam Cherry: Photographs of Charles Bukowski, The Black Cat, and Skid Row on Saturday, we settled for a nice and “quiet” nightcap at Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood. We knew it would not be our scene but we sacrificed being outcasts for good drinks. Upon arrival we encountered the typical damnation of LA; the line of torture and forced humility. As we walked to the doom of shame, I thought, “there is no way we are getting in.” To my surprise, we must have stood in line for a very brief minute when a CIA looking fella came up to us and asked us if we were there to drink? (in my head I was thinking, “it’s a bar, what do you think smart guy?”…it’s obvious a suit is not a symbol of intelligence.). To make the long story short, we got in without a hassle leaving behind the lonely bros and not so sultry looking gals, when suddenly I started thinking…Hmm…It’s funny how little things; like getting into a bar can feel so rewarding at times. Dumb? I know!! But in Tinseltown it’s the hardest thing to do. By Hollywood’s standards, if you’re a single guy it’s easier for you to apply for a job, go on an interview and get hired than to see the open gates to a bar….okay, okay! enough about my rant. The night turned out well and after a few drinks we were ready for our next stop… Home!
Feliz Lunes Friends!!
